Captain & Boat

Laid-back, easy-going and serious about two things: your safety and putting you on fish.

Meet the captain

Mike Bauman

Captain Mike has loved nature, wildlife and the outdoors his whole life. Growing up in the Midwest, he lived for weekend trips with his dad to the family's log cabin a few hours outside St. Louis, where he learned the fundamentals of fishing on freshwater lakes and rivers.

Later, he and his wife made the life-changing move to Florida's Emerald Coast, and he found a whole new passion: saltwater fishing. He learned from some of the best captains and guides along the Gulf Coast, then followed his lifelong dream of becoming a saltwater guide, specializing in light-tackle bay and flats fishing.

Treats every trip like family

Mike treats every single charter as if his own family were on board. He's accommodating and goes above and beyond so you have the best possible time on the water and catch plenty of fish. Making clients smile and creating memories that last a lifetime is what drives him.

He has fished the rivers, bays, Intracoastal Waterway and Gulf of Mexico across the Panhandle extensively. After years serving the public in emergency medicine, he is also a licensed paramedic, so whatever the situation, safety comes first on your charter.

  • U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain

This boat floats in just 8 inches of water, gives you a very stable platform to fish from, and stays remarkably dry in all kinds of seas. A Yamaha 150 four-stroke gets us to the fish quickly, with a top speed of around 50 mph. Unlike many bay boats (often just a fiberglass deck with nowhere to sit), she has plenty of seating, perfect for inshore and nearshore fishing on the Gulf.
